If doors and base cabinets with kicks are already installed, check with your site foreman to see if trim will be undercut to accommodate flooring installation. This can be done by making a flush cut using a piece of scrap flooring as your guide to establish cut height

Check adjacent walls for square using a framing square

Refer to site plan or site foreman to establish flooring direction. Most often, direction is dictated by running the length of the longest room

Determine your starting point. This is usually the most prominent wall in the room

Inconsistencies in how square the room is, are generally hidden within baseboard or cabinet toe kicks

To install the planks themselves, slot tongue into groove, or vice versa depending on direction, then lift and tap into place using a rubber mallet and cut off piece of flooring that has the opposing connector. This allows you to tap with the mallet without breaking tongue or groove

For the most part, planks will be cut with a floor cutter. More complex cuts, such as scribes, are made using a table saw for long straight cuts, a miter saw for shorter cuts, and a jigsaw for random shapes
