Windows

Prior to installing windows, check the rough opening to ensure the space is large enough, and that it is plumb and square

  • Protect window sill with 6’ Zip stretch tape. Overlap sides with standard Zip. Overlap top with Zip tape as well

  • Remove sash from the window

  • Install window consistent with site plan, or using a laser level to reference height on nearby windows in the case of a remodel

  • Dry fit window

  • Once fit is confirmed, apply a liquid sealant such as OSI to the side and top of the exterior perimeter of the rough opening

  • Do not add OSI to the bottom portion of the rough opening, so that water can escape

  • Shim to height on sill, and in between window and vertical framing members of rough opening

    7 of 13

  • Screw window fin to rough opening framing using panhead screws

    8 of 13

  • Weatherproof window around side and top of fin using Ziptape, overlapping top over sides to protect from downward water flow

  • Replace sash

  • Seal interior gap between window and rough opening using either Dynaflex caulk, or a combination of foam backer rod and Dynaflex caulk for larger spaces.

  • Clean excess caulk

  • Remove stickers from glass and clean window
